gsr valve clearence help stage 4 cams
hey i got a b18c with buddyclub stage 4 cams, springs, retainers and omni flat valves. if any one could point me in the right direction to calculate how much clearence i have and how i can get more compression as i want to put in like ctr pistons any help would be great thanks phil

for those cams to work you must have at LEAST 12:1 + compression. clearances depend on the build you are doing. i ran .040 piston to head, .050 piston to valve, .040 valve to valve.
choose better pistons than ctr...i recommend endyn pistons the quality is top notch and the dome design promotes a detonation free burn. you are going to have to spend some serious time if you are doing this yourself (i really hope your not). dont worry about idle...do you care if you are idling at 1300 rpm? probably not. are you getting head work done? i recommend it to see the potential of the cams (which are too big for the street).
you have a shlt load of work ahead of you and if not done right will result in a big bang. good luck.

And I hope you have a tune session ready to go when this is done because I can see a catastrophic failure in your future without it.

I did a 12:1 CR LSvtec with the BC4's and they idled mint around 900-1000rpms and made 201whp and 141ft/lbs without touching the cam gears with a torque curve that held flat until 8000+rpms.
I agree with LEITNER that you shouldn't use CTR pistons, they don't promote good flame travel and wouldn't be my first (or last) choice of piston to use in a build.
BC4's aren't THAT big of a cam, they're like the 3's just carry the power longer and to a higher RPM.
