Home made Honda B/H series valve spring compressor

For those who are interested, check this out...

Was looking for a valve spring compressor to do the valve seals in my b16 head and came across this unit: Valve Spring Compressor Tool for the Acura/Honda B16 Vtec, B18C1/B18C5 Vtec, H22 Vtec

Looks simple enough. Think I'm going to try to make my own...lol.

all i do for valve removal, is just use a normal valve compressor tool, with a cut socket with a hole similar to the one in the video. i'd say whichever is cheaper, do that

Well...got home from work and after a couple hours I managed to make one.

1/4" aluminum plate...etc... Looks pretty ghetto but it works and cost $0!

No socket...lol. It's actually a piece of steel pipe with a plate epoxy'd to the top...haha.

Well, I didn't fully take a vlave out just yet cause I wanted the epoxy to set properly. But I did thread it in and compress the spring 1/2" without any issues. So it looks like it'll work ok.

Will pop the valves out tonight and give it a good run-in. The piece of pipe sits flat against the top of the keeper, so I don't think it will try to split open.
