ITR ECU differences?

ITR ECU differences?
Is there any difference between a JDM 1997 ITR ECU and a JDM 2001 ITR ECU?

Also, if I were to use a chipped P28 ECU in my 1997 Civic would I be able to hook up a scan tool to my car?

pin locations maybe differrent. As far as program goes it may also be different because i believe the later model type-r's use different spec cams
