JDM b16a in 97 si

I have a JDM b16a sitting in my 94 eg right now, but its a rust bucket. So i went and got me a 97 si ek for a good deal and now I want to swap my b16a in it. I never did an engine swap but I am going to attempt it myself (shouldnt be too bad). I heard all I need with the wiring conversion from OBD2A to OBD1 and a t-bracket from a 99 sir. Is that all? Thanks

Yes and i think you will need the lower rad hose too. Cause i had to switch mine when i did the swap aswell.

Oh and you might have to shorten the throttle cable or cut a bit of the plastic surrounding the cable so it can hook up. I had to do that to mine but maybe their might be another solution to it.

actually going from an obd1 car to an obd2 car will require some wiring modifications.

The distributor will have 2 plugs and the obd2 engine harness will have 1 big dizzy plug, you can either put the odb2 dizzy plug on the obd1 dizzy, or put the obd1 dizzy plugs on your obd2 engine harness.
The IAT (intake air temperature) sensor will be different too. On the obd2 harness it'll be located in the intake tube or the air filter box, it uses a square plug. The obd1 engine will have the IAT sensor on the intake manifold, it uses a round plug. All you will have to do here is put the round obd1 IAT plug on your engine harness.
The EVAP purge solenoid will be different too, but you can just re-use the obd2 style EVAP from the car.

If you want to re-use the obd1 ecu you're using in the obd1 car you'll need an obd2 to obd1 ecu conversion harness (PM me if u need one).

The engine mounts will not work either. You'll need SiR timing belt side mount, top tranny mount and rear bracket.

Thats right...but he was asking converting to OBD2a to OBD1.

how could you have re-used the EG mounts in an EK?

The EK timing belt side mount is completely different than the EG style, as is the top tranny mount. The EG uses the bracket on the frame rail with, whereas the EK uses the bracket on the tranny.

Oh, he was asking what he needs to make it fit in the 97 si. Iv got a 96 ek, not a eg.
When i did my swap i reused all the mounts from the D16y8 except for the back mount from the SIR. And i had to change the lower rad hose and used the OBD2a to OBD1 conversion harness and thats all i think.

ahh, that makes sense, you already had a d16y8 in there, so you've got the proper timing belt side and top tranny mounts already.
