Which programmer?

Which programmer?
Not sure if this is in the right area, if not feel free to move it.
I am looking into getting a power programmer and was wondering if anyone on here has one or has any experience with them.
Which brand should I look at which ones to stay away from. Is there another route I can go to get results. Just looking to plug it in and go. My buddy had one for his truck and it was amazing.
I have a D16Y8 SOHC V-TEC if it makes a difference. Any advice or help is appreciated.
Thanks. B

typically what people do with hondas is convert the car to obd1 (with an obd2-obd1 ecu conversion harness and chipped p28 ecu) and get the car dyno tuned.
Don't expect much from something like a "power programmer" on a honda....the extra power comes from tuning.

Thanks for the help. From what I've seen on here you are the man to talk to about all things Honda. So what does the chipped p28 ecu and the harness usually run with a dyno tuning. What sort of gains would I see with that sort of setup. This car is m daily driver for now is it safe and reliable to do a switch like that. Thanks.

in my honest opinion its not worth the $$$ on a stock d16y8.
The performance gains will be minimal in terms of PEAK horsepower increases, but typically a car that has been tuned will respond better, accelerate quicker, make more power, get better gas mileage and give you peice of mind that your car is running to its highest potential.
Cars that really NEED to be tuned would be ones with different camshafts, higher compression, different fuel injectors or MAP sensor (for more boost), turbo or supercharged cars or when using n20.
I'm not saying you won't see any gains from dyno tuning, but your particular setup in my opinion would yeild results that I would not consider worth the money considering you would need to convert to obd1.
A car with an engine with even a very basic build like cams, intake manifold, throttle body and I/H/E would definately benefit from dyno tuning more so than a stock engine.

Hm its like most of the people who are new to all this see an ad on ebay saying intake adds 20hp, ebay chip 40hp and so on. To be honest don't waste money on all that. You would be better off if you built the d or swapped for b. Otherwise you are wasting money hoping for insane power gains.
I mean come on, intake...all it is, is a pipe with a filter. Less restrictive than stock but no way in hell that thing will give you the insane power increase as the ebay ads proclaim they do.
So OP not to burst your bubble, but either actually build the motor or just be happy with what you have now, since you will end up paying close to 1000$ for dyno tune and obd1 conversion, and gains will be very minimal.
