Vtec question?

Question Vtec question?

Might be a dumb question but if I swapped out my non vtec engine for a jdm vtec d15b and converted my ecu to p28 and didnt wire up vtec right away could I still drive the car? or will that damage it.. reason why is I'd like to do the swap then take it to someone that can wire up vtec for me... I dunno that why im askin lol

You can drive it without vtec. It just won't have as much grunt in the upper rpm range.

You can wire up vtec when you do the swap. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but it should be the same as doing a mini-me swap (sohc non-vtec to sohc vtec head swap). Not very difficult to do.

Someone more knowledgeable with d-series please chime in here...

you can drive it without the vtec wired up, but you WILL get a CEL for code 21 (vtec solenoid) and code 22 (vtec pressure switch).

yeah there won't be any issues driving it but as zeeman said you will have 2 DTC's to do with vtec. I would keep the revs below general vtec rpms until you have it wired up.
