Who wants to replace my engine?

Here's the scenario:
Friday, oil change at a local Firestone shop. Drive around town, no problem.
Saturday, drive from Mississauga to Toronto, hear a little knocking. Start to drive home and hear a big knocking. Get off highway, knock is crazy. Bring it to the shop, he claims I did the damage by letting the car run with low oil (bull****, I drove a Dodge Colt with no oil in the engine for a month with little damage), anyway, he claims he did nothing wrong, basically tells me to go away. Saturday later in the day, I figure it's going to need a replacement engine anyhow, so I keep driving, but get less than 5 KM before the engine finally almost gives out completely. She limped home and is sitting there now. The car starts, but the noise is awful and is very, VERY loud. Car will barely go.

So basically I'm looking for someone that could possibly come to me, provide and install the engine. If needed, I might be able to supply an air compressor, but would need to know in advance.

Let me know if this is possible and if so, how much?

Car info:

1994 Civic EH2 (hatchback)
I'm willing to use basically any engine you can provide that is in good working condition. VTEC is a bonus, but car is not currently wired up for it, and isn't a *must*.

Hey thanks for your valued and insightful comment.
But do you ever think before you type?

The Dodge was on it's way out anyhow. The tranny was grinding (due to a mechanic putting the incorrect gear oil in it) and the engine was burning more oil than I was willing to invest in.

The Honda engine had at least 2L of oil in there before the oil change.

Again, thanks.

No no, when I checked it, it was full. They put oil in it.

I'm not "blaming" the shop, but it's a hell of a coincidence that the day after an oil change the engine gives out.

If you are willing to pay a little tow fee, you could try Defcon at Markham. I know it is not at-your-door service that you wished for, might be worth a shot.

From experience, home-operated mechanics who does swaps usually charges around $500 and above, and that is you providing all the parts, right down to fluids and whatnot. But even then, they do it at their own house.

That's cute Leitner, the way you try to defend yourself. As I never asked if you read, I asked if you think before you type... Maybe you should read first. I don't know.
Anyhow, I never asked for your opinion on my intelligence level, which is clearly higher than yours. I only told the background story as a filler.

Lots of people drive with low engine oil. Not everyone has the inclination to check every week. Maybe your oil is low right now? When's the last time you checked?

Maybe it is my fault for not keeping the oil level exactly full. Maybe it's not my fault and there is something else wrong with the engine. Who knows? I don't! Nor do you.

Simple fact of the matter still is that I need an engine, and that I'm still seeing if someone is willing to do it at my house. If I need to get it towed, I'll get a CAA membership for $100 and tow it somewhere.

I'll check out Defcon, thanks for the heads-up!

First of all, this is a TECH forum to ask questions about the various catagories that are set up here. Make a post in discussions if you are looking for someone to do your engine work.

Closed for that and other obvious reasons
