I would also like someone to demonstrate it although I've seen those mechanics doing it many times. Well I didn't pay too much attention to it though..

I agree that seems like there's many small things involved such as where shall we dump the oil after draining it?

Oh yeah, where should it be thrown out by the way?

municipalities has a facility that takes them. I found the one in hamilton through the blue pages in the phone book. Some have limits in how much they take at one time. It's best if you do a couple oil changes then take the old oil to the disposal site.

Some shops used to take them but not anymore.

Yeah, I know asking how to do an oil change is trivial to many ... Remember, one who asks may be a fool for a minute; one who doesn't ask, is a fool for a lifetime.
K have fun. It's not hard at all and its a lot cheaper..

I use.

OEM Honda Oil Filters (Part # 15400-PLM-A01) $7.67 each from Number 7 Honda.
And a quality 5w30 non-synthetic oil.

Usually comes out to about $12 per oil change.. $10 if i use a crappy filter. And i only flush my engine maybe every 3rd oil change?

Interesting to read how many opinions there are about changing oil!

I'd prefer not to run any additive detergents in my engine. I know lots of guys get away with ATF, varsol, diesel fuel, etc. for flushing but I'm not a fan of using anything that dilutes the engine oil and affects lubrication - even for short time.

IMHO, I think after your car has passed break-in, it's best to just run a synthetic oil all the time. The majority of good synthetics have mild detergents built into them that will keep your motor clean for the life of the motor.

There are lots of stories of engines torn down after 100,000 miles that were run on synthetic oil and are very clean internally. In fact, some parts still pass manufacturer's spec for new parts.

Yes - I know synthetics cost a lot more but I figure it's just cheap insurance for your car.

to dump your oil, leave it at Canadian Tire's doorstep, haha, and if they don't accept, come back at midnight!
