1994 Honda Civic Coolant/rad Issue ?

Hey guys I have a problem with the car overheating. Its a 1994 honda civic si with the si motor in. Car seems to overheat when stopped then when i drive it it'll slowly go back down to normal operation temp.? The rad overflow container overflows when it does this. And it mostly does this when I drive the car a bit on the harder side.

- Thermostat.... was changed 2 mths ago with a honda one :S

- Rad Cap ....

- Air in the lines??

One of the coolant lines seems to be colder then the other at times the one on the top. And also the rad sometimes wont get hot? Fan does werk.

Thanks

well if the lower rad hose is cool the stat isnt opening...and this would obviously cause an overheat...but then u say it cools down when driving which would say the stat does work since the rad is cooling...check the fans and fan relays...and purge the system for air

My old motor was doing the same thing that you just described. Unfortunately my head gasket was gone. Hopefully yours isnt. Good luck
