2WD to 4WD Conversion?

I have read a few articles online about 2wd to 4wd conversions, and most of them have stated that it was a waste of time and money.
However, i own a 99 acura 1.6el, and it is fwd. In japan, the same car is produced under the honda badge, and it is called a domani. As i come to understand, there are 2 versions of the domani, the mb4 (which is a regular 2wd like my el), and the mb5, which is a 4wd.
Now since these two cars are virtually the same, except for the 4wd component, would it not be a fairly simple swap?
This has been on my mind for a while now and i just had to ask. Thanks for any help.

Dude...What are you Saying!!?!??!. An Audi Quattro isn't jsut a Headache, Its a god damn Migrane. They look nice and started a rally Revolution, but there still 5cyl peices' of Junk.
You want AWD just buy a Subaru. There AWD system is more simple and Durable than anyone else's. And there good car's. Don't bother converting your Acura. Too much money when you can just buy an AWD car.

It's true. Too much money doing a conversion. Audi are junk no doubt. Subaru are much better than Audi, but not much. Subaru are a bitch too changing to spark plugs and doing the timing belt. They can't make anything easier. Audi are fun to drive if u get a V6 or V8.

subaru and durable awd system shoudl never go in the same sentence unless yoru talking about th e6 speed from the sti. the wrx you can barely launch and it will eat 2nd gear like my buddies did.

talons have been known to get into 11's on stock everything

not to mention in the end you have a 127hp heavy awd pos. You can custom setup a manula awd crv setup from japan but you woudl need a b series and probobly woudl want tpo turbo charge it .

you;re missing the point.. no matter how much of a headache a quattro would be, its still less than hunting down parts and converting to an acura 4wd system

Well finding the parts would no doubt be a difficult task, but would the conversion really be THAT hard. It's not like im taking the 4wd system from two different cars. In fact its the exact same car.
But then again im fairly new to all this modding, and i have no clue on the amount of work involved with such a swap.

his question isn't what AWD car to get. so if you don't have an answer to his question, then STFU.

Premium Dude, at the very least you would face several problems... like the rear subframe would have to get taken out and replaced with one that's clearanced for a differential. this is pretty major structural work for such a new car, so I would advise against it.

Honda Tuning built an AWD Integra using CRV components, and it required major reworking of the entire floorpan.

In addition, where your exhaust and shifter linkage goes now, you'd need to have a driveshaft there, I just don't see how there is enough room under the car.

It's possible the MB5 is built on a modified CRV platform rather than a modified MB4 (domani) platform. You'd also need room for a transfer case.

All in all, yes it can be done but it's not wise on such a new car. It would cost more to do than buying a used 2.5RS or even maybe a WRX. Then, if anything broke down, where would you source parts, its not the kinda swap that you can get parts from Canadian Tire. And you'd still only have 127 hp too.

nothing like a 127hp awd launch to get you outta the hole fast

coudl be done but your whole rear and trunck woudl have to be cut and modified floor cut for driveshaft...basically it can be done if you have your pown shop and are a master frabricator but in the end it's a gay idea.

spend your money and drop a better motor in so you actually maybe can break a 14 sec time.. gsr perhaps
