92 Octane Gas

I put Shell 92 Octane gas in my car a few days ago, because someone said it's an alternative to the fuel cleaning stuff, but my car didn't respond to it well. It's been misfiring, especially when I'm idling in neutral. Is this normal?

prolly old *** plugs in your whip, so they can't light the heavier mixture. Whoever told you 92 octane is an alternative to "fuel cleaning stuff" as you put it is a dumbfuck and should be castrated LOL don't listen to ppl who don't know what they are saying. No knowledge is dangerous, little knowledge is disasterous!

I don't even go near shell gas stations anymore, it's ont the same stuff that they have in europe, over here it's the worst gas possible to put in your car. Two of my uncles got blown fuel pumps from using shell gas,

Sunoco 87 or whatever your manual recommends for octane.

hey, well there are lots of possibilities to this but i know what he is sayin
my dad drives a 98 Grand Prix GTP, modded to ****..
but to the story, he was testin how much KR (knockretard) he was gettin and it was at 8, not good at all.. he was runnin sunco 94, so he decided to see if it was just bad gas, he switched to Petro 91 (or whatever petro's highest is) and his KR dropped to 1.. which was insane, thought it was just luck, tried sunco 94 again, same thing happened KR jumped up again...

well I dunno about that sunoco gas makes your kr go up, cuz sunoco gas is the only gas in canada that's approved and tested by the gov't, maybe he should try a different location, you never know these days, but ya petro is good stuff, but the real **** is on the other side of the world, where there is 100 octance levels, hmmmmmmmmm, I can smell it rite now,

heavily modded cars don't like etanol in the mixture. Sunoco is 15% ETHANOL!!

CrashRx7, are you talking MacEwan gas??

MacEwan gas,, hmm not sure what that is?
but Ajax Muffler over here in Ajax, gets race gas once in a while for certain people.. its $2/L it might be 100 octane but i m pretty sure the last time it was 102.. didnt feel much of a difference at the track, still no traction.. season comin up slicks will be swapped on...

Yeah, you guys hit it on the dot - I kind of guessed it was the plugs too. I just hesitated because I replaced my plugs (cheapest copper at Cdn. Tire) a month ago and thought it might be something else. Only one plug went bad though.

As for recommended gas, I also suggest Sunoco 87 to. I always though Shell gas was okay, and Esso gas was bad. I kind of stick with Shell though 'cuz of the Air Miles thing. And 102 octane? I've only seen that in Europe!

just be sure it's unleaded.... most race gas is leaded and will fawk your O2 sensor and your catalytic converter.

but i think we will stop usin race gas cuz didnt make a big difference and it was expensive

some mods to the GTP just to show
3.8 Litre
Custom Exhaust,
Custom made Exhaust Manifold
Fenderwall intake, with scoops under the car
Ported & Polishd (Stage1) S/C
Custom made mufflers and Cat (pretty crazy if you see them)
DHP (computer)
Tuned for many many hours at expense of $120 an hour
Alcohol injection set for when boost hits 5 psi
(daily driven at 16 psi)
LS6 Intake Manifold and O2 sensor (custom plate made)
IAT mod (boo for automatics)

Currently building a new engine, so maybe next season this new one will be put in, and we will see what she will do

not as far as I know Jason...

Crash, that's an extensive list of mods... so your dad runs water/alcohol injection?? That's an interesting setup!!! I'd like to run water injection. How is it wired up, is there a company that makes a kit?

well what it is, he has setup a system where if that he has made, to shoot alchol into the s/c at 5 psi, and as u already know, alcohol gets cold fast and condense the air and keeps the s/c a little bit colder...

as for a company that makes this.. hmm not that i know..
he is purely about makin it and testin it.. but i will talk to him once he gets home (He has his own shop), i will ask him for steps and stuff and i will pm' u details!
