Bruno .. then how do race cars keep their ECU's happy with good sensor input, while running high octane gas.

Generally race ECUs don't need O2 sensors the operating parameters of a race car are such that the feedback loop is minimal. I'm pretty sure Hondata doesn't use O2 input neither.

I mean, you run one race with the ECU, you know what weather to expect and what the elevation is going to be. The rest is dyno tuned with EGT and prolly some sort of filtered wideband O2 that is special to race dynos. Some prolly exist, I just don't know about it.
