93 hatch/no moter
What moter is the best bang for the buck. Im looking at getting a 1993 hatch si but the moter has 270+k...I will definatly need to get a new moter. What works best. B16,GSR,TYPE R,etc. what do you sugest and why? I will be adding the basics like intake,
exhaust, plugs and wires. What kind of price range am I looking at for this moter? Thanks

what do you plan on doing in the future? (NA, FI?)
try a search, this topic has been brought up many times, and alot of detailed reasons on different engines are given
for some basic ideas, try this thread:

B18B = 130-142HP (Depending on year)
B16A = 160HP
B18B - more torque because of larger displacement - non VTEC.
B16A - higher revving w/VTEC
Either or...are both very good engines. Although, I'd say...if you are going for best bang for the buck - period, B18B would be the engine to buy. They are a dime a dozen since they've been used in all Integras from 1990 forward.
The B16A would probably cost a little bit more, but you get the free revving ability of VTEC and would probably be the best option for going NA.
I've driven cars with both engines...I personally like how VTEC engines rev compared to the non's.
My verdict = B16A if you're going NA..

EG6_SiRII: Bro, it's been a long time......
Defintely, listen to this guy, lots of experience with swaps.
My opinion is the B18B motor, it takes up the same amount of gas as B16, but it uses a cheaper gas vs. the B16 which uses a higher grade of gas. Its got alot more torque, therefore, it takes up more gas then your average non-vtec civic, alittle bit more, no worries; but you can use cheap gas.
