an admitted idiot asking a question...

ok...um i may get slammed for this...but...well ok i have no knowledge in Honda engines and I just bought my Civic and was wondering if anyone knows exactly what I got. I was told its a DOHC ZC Engine and Tranny swap. Nuthin like doin some research AFTER u buy the car eh? hahaha

Can anyone give me more info bout it? does it look to be set up well? Oh and ya, the battery was moved to the trunk.

ok see the red valve cover ?

ok now see the piping coming out towards the front of the car from the engine? thats the header.

now if your looking at the header on the right had side of the header on the front of the engine you find a flat section. this section is where the block code is stamped ... clean the dirt away and presto you get the block code...

===================================

it does look like a ZC with a painted valve cover but I would not be sure without seeing the block code.

i saw that car in autotrader... look on the engine plate and it should say ZC on it, it looks like a zc thats good
there is not an easy way to find out if there is a tranny swap because d series trannies are all L3 trannies... hit the rev limiter in first gear and tell us how fast your going

o ya it was in autotrader. needs a paint job bad, but its a quick *** car. just wish it wasnt so damn cold out so i could work on it more. it is filthy inside...i have no idea what the previous owner did to this thing but i am suspecting it sat around for a while.

Is it easy to install a tach on here? by the looks of the holes in my dash it looks like they had one b4. just wondering where i wire it.

yep tachs are easy..... buy a tach and bring it by when it's warm out and I'll help you out... I won't do it when it's cold out ..for a few reasons...

1) I discovered when helping Tmak my soldering iron hates the cold....

2) I'm a wimp and hate the cold....

take yours off, sandblast it and send it out for ceramic coating, or paint it with high heat paint (but if you paint it, be ready to re-paint it every season).

lol, my friend came soo close to buying that car like 2 weeeks ago, he wanted to trade his 94 corrolla for it, but the civic was in pretty rough shape compared to the corolla
its good for the price
but the guy who was selling it tried to paint over the rust, so there seems to be growing rust holes between the body kit bumpers and the metal

its hard to tell from the pics but ya i think the previous owner musta bumped sumthing cuz theres a crack in the front of the bumper and i think it broke the seal the bumper had to the frame. no one bothered to fix it. I plan on painting it jet black in the spring and see how she comes out.
