hey i have a magnaflow muffler..and i was wondering if i should take my cat out and do a straight pipe??

would that be too loud or would it sound good?
wut about power..will it decrease or increase?? or would it even make a difference...??

Leave the cat on. Not worth it if you get bit for that.

How bad is the penalty for taking it out?

probably a few hundred..
no worse than a truck or a bus, but that should tell ya something

imo, leave it on or go get a high-flow cat..pull the resonator..

if it was me, that's what i'd do..tho i'd leave the resonator for quieting purposes..

pulling the res. will give you a little more volume (sound..tho you sure you want the attention??) and like the high-flow cat it'll reduce yer back-pressure..
