I have 3 options and i can't decide on that to do

Buy a civic 99-00 sir $15k-18k

Buy a civic 99-00 si and do a few mods, intake, exhaust $10k-$12k

Or Buy a civic Hatch 96-98 $6k-8k and swap a gsr engine for $5.5k total $11.5k -13.5k. I worry abou this one for re-sale reasons, if i buy the car for cheaper and put all the money into a older car, i will just be loosing money???

Could someone please help??

I was told that the sir isn't that fast, would the civic hatch with gsr be alot faster??

Why buy a car just to dump money into the mods. Buy an Sir and use it sell it when you are done get most of your money back. Get a hatch and put 6gs into it and sell it and loose the 6gs plus depreciation. You will never get your money out of mods. The Sir is a fantasitc car. I wouldnt buy a civic without a twin cam vtec in it. There are so many other cars to buy that out perform an si for less money. Used I mean of course. I own one and will probably never sell the car. I also have an 04 bmw 325 and it is great but I would rather drive the civic in town. On the highway I would much rather be in the bmw. And I know the car is going to get stolen, just a matter of when!! I have theft insurance so whatever. I am not going to let somthing that is completly out of my control ruin having fun. Anyways the Sir is a totally different car than the si suspension for one thing, brakes and the list goes on. Good luck in your search

What list? The only major difference between an Si and an SiR is the motor. The suspension is basically the same aside from the SiR's rear disks (the fronts do the most braking anyway) and SiR's have a rear swaybar that is a direct bolt-on to any Si. The interior is the same except for the SiR has different seats which are uncomfortable anyway, the body is the same except for the front lip and the painted trim/skirts.

I'm not saying an SiR is a bad car, but if he's going back to school and wants something more affordable, then I think a regular Si is a better choice. $1000 in suspension mods and an Si would run rings around a stock SiR and it's only about a second behind in the quarter. An SiR has 30 more HP, torque is only like 4lb more, but it weighs 100lbs more then an Si. Just my 2 cents.

These are all good points, thank you everyone!!! I'm thinking no now to the civic hatch back just in the amount of money that i will loose in the long run. And i've been into the sir from the beginning and i like all the little things that come with it, lip, painted mouldings and so on so i think i will just end up getting that. Thank you for your help, i will let you know when i get one

Bro,

I've owned a civic hatch and now own a SiR and let me tell you, the SiR is a WAY better ride. Personally, I like the coupe look over the hatchback. You don't have to spend 15k-18k like you said to buy one either. I bought mine private for 10k through autotrader with 100kms on it. It was just a matter of paitence. I've had the car for two months and everyday I step into the car I love it more and more.

The seats do blow. They are the most uncomfortable ones I've sat in for sure. I replaced them with usdm itrs... much better!

I bought mine stock... and now look what I've done to it:

Engine:
AEM Cam Gears
AEM Fuel Rail
DC 4-2-1 Ceramic Headers
High Flow Cat
R*SR Exmag Exhaust
Short Ram Intake

Interior:
Compustar Pager Alarm
ITR Shift ****
Short Shifter
Sparco Racing Pedals
Sony CD Deck
USDM ITR Front Seats

Exterior:
15" Rota Circuit 8s Bronze w/ Yokohama Es100s
DIY Blacked Out Headlights
KYB AGX Adjustible Shocks
H&R Sport Springs
Megan Racing LCAs
OEM Foglights
Skunk2 Front Camber Kit

It was like night and day once I added the I/H/E ... I've got CTR cams coming and I hear those rock on the b16. Car handles like a dream around corners.... I get way more looks in this car than I did with the hatch... ladies love it!

Goodluck with your search and I hope you become a SiR owner!

i love the way the 99-00 civics look.... i have an si but like a lot of people are saying... all you need to do is suspension work.. with minor upgrades like front lip, hids, rims, c/f hood, etc to make it look good.... you have a type s motor.. SWAP IT INTO THE EK!.... lolz...
