B16a2 swap under $3000???

anyone knows of any mechanic shops that can do a complete swap of the B16a2 on my 97 ek hatch for less than $3000 with labour included..??

Or has anyone done a swap before and it would cost them less than $3000 with labour and tax included..??

Well Im pulling my motor and paying someone to come and wire it all up and install. We haven't set a defenitive price but we have a general figure. I bought some Peice's before hand
B16A first gen..$800
B16 tranny......$400
Driveshaft's......$276
mounts.............$175

Now the guy doing the install is hooking up the Intermediate shaft, the computer, Clutch, Starter, JDM Flywheel and header and other miscealaneous bull**** i might have forgotten. He say's he's done this a few time's for buddie's and was a mechanic so we can do it all in one day(after the motor is pulled).
He say's it will be around $1600 for parts plus install. Not the Final figure but somewhere around there. So it can be done for a bit under $3500 but not by much. And you'll have to shop around. Plus your going to want better brake's and rubber as well. Factor that in if you dont' have both already.

he is probabley looking at getting a second gen 92+ b16 with a hydro tranny which costs quite a bit more than a first gen b16

First gen. complete $1500ish

second gen. complete $2500ish

plus install $600ish

bluesicoupe, thats about $3100, it can be done if you shop around and grab a deal

I payed $3200 Installed in a EK but for me I had a lot of extra stuff I didn't originally think of that I ended up paying extra for. Eg. Wiring Harness Converter, Relocate the Cat, Intake (Since my never came with an airbox)

Just to clarify on this old post...

Scott-93HBSi is one of the original members of ClubSi and he has been doing swaps longer then some of you have been driving. He really knows his stuff and I have NEVER heard anything bad about him or his work. He did my timing belt/water pump for a sweet price. He has done a few things for people on TCC and all of them have been happy.

Scott Newman has been on TCC for some time and we all know who he is.

I would recommend and trust both of them.
