I just did a tune up. PS steering fluid flush, Brake fuild flush, Oil change. I just got the car and change out all the ball joints too. Most likey I am just not used to the brake on the civic. Becasue the 240 brakes are very hard and i don't have to step too low before i feel it.

you can adjust the rear shoes, this will help with the pedal feel...provided your car has drums in the rear.
All you do is adjust the adjusting bolt which is between the clevis A and clevis B. The clevis is that thing that goes across from one shoe to the other (not the wheel cylinder) there is a little wheel in the middle, rotate this with a flat head screw driver. But don't move it too much at one time. Just do a couple of clicks each time, putting the drum back on to check the resistance, there should be some drag on the drum as you try to spin it, not too much, but some. If there isn't take the drum back off and adjust the adjusting bolt again another few clicks...repeat as necessary.
Make sure to do both sides.

Brake fluid flush?

Did you bleed all the air out of the lines?

I got a shop that I know to do it. They have a machine thats do it. They take the oil and fill the oil at the same time to ensure no air in the line.
