cable-->hydro
Anyone know if a cable to hydro conversion is do able without loosing my hair. I know they sell kits for hydro to cable conversions but not vise versa.
If so does anyone know much would it cost me in parts alone?
Also if anyone has a guide on the swap that would be great.
Thanx

You know, this is something you need to speak with Steve about... at Leitner. Cuz, if you are serious, I'm sure he either already has something, or can make something. Is this relating to you recent bout of blown up trannies?

lol no no I bought a new tranny a while ago right before darknights and installed it at midnight at my buddies shop, i've done so many trannies on my car now im so use to it, just like an oil change.
Anyhow, unfortunatly my baby is gone and I bought a 91 hatch today and im going to build a 2000 **** motor which involves a hydro tranny and it only has around 30K on it so it's a mint tranny and I don't want to swap it over with a 12 year cable tranny and get headaches down the road. Plus it's so much smoother, I love hydro

Ohhh...so you sold your car, huh? Never heard anything about it... congrats. Sounds like a beast, the **** motor I agree... hydro>cable. Just get the hydraulics and pedal cluster, and get a whole bunch of lines and custom bend them yourself, and run it all in...do it once, do it right. Pull the dash to do the hydro and the wiring... it'll be quicker and easier.

well not quite, it's presently in the process and will be shortly. Do you think I can use the lines out of 5th gen hatch and hook them up along with the pedal cluster and then customize it onto the tranny.
Why you selling your car bb? As for the options in the other thread, I wouldn't but someone elses project b/c it's just not your car. Your driving someone elses work and who knows how hacked up and killed it is also.
P.S The **** is going to bugy, maybe i'll see you at the track one day

To be honest, I don't know why I'm selling.... prolly cuz I'm sick of not having any power under the hood. Though I got that turbo I bought and all the rest of the crap, installing that will only further depreciate the car in terms of market value. 5 years is a long time to own a car... I've never kept a car more than 6 months I think, which would explain why I've owned 14 of them...
In terms of buying someone elses project... true, but rather than having a pile of stock parts left over, you get a pile of parts that in sum equal a lot more than what you pay for them in the car... and then the rest of the crap is easy to change, like rims, brakes, seats, carpet color, etc... but as long as the chassis is what I want and the motor is the one I'd choose, and the body is clean and straight...that's good. Most of these projects I'm famliar with anyways, and have respect for the builders. The majority of it would get pulled for cleaning and whatnot, but most major parts would stay intact. So even if the install is a complete hack, I can deal with that when I redo it, as long as the parts are there. Like the Saturn I bought, the parts on it alone are worth more than I paid for the car Plus, the bonus is that the car was done exactly as I would have done it myself.... except I wanna now put Corbeau A4 seats in, and a new black carpet from ACC.

I've always wanted a 5.0 5 spd... I wonder what the insurance will be on it though... I bet ya I can pick up a done up one for about $10K... running low 12s N/A. It won't handle until it gets to my hands, then I'll make the bitch dance. Whatever breaks on it is prolly not needed anyways

man you dont' need a hydro tranny it will bolt up to any b series cable tranny whether it a cable ls tranny or a ys1 or a cable with lsd which is rare....dotn' maek things complicated wehn they dotn' have to be..stick to cable casue it's easy and works great.....
#14
how did u know what motor I have lol. Ya im probably going to grab a ys1 tranny from a guy I know but this tranny took a beating left right and center so who knows how long it will last in my car that's why I wanted to put the tranny I have riht now in my car b/c it has like 30K on it and it's brand new still plus the hydro is so much smoother than cable crap. But ya it looks like a lot of work which I don't realy need. Thanx guys

sell yoru hydro and look aroudn at the importers for a ys1....call aroudn and get soemoen to import you one with lsd..s.eeign how your building up your motor you will need the lsd to get traction...and I'm pretty sure that the lsd trannies have even shorter gearing but are slightly rare
