^^^ a caliper is seized if the piston won't move in OR out. brake fluid is hydroscopic - it means it absorbs moisture from the air. that's why you're supposed to flush the fluid every 2 years. also, as moisture content increases, boiling point decreases. after a while, this moisture will begin to act on the caliper piston and bore.... along with the elements of the wheelwell environment as the seal (and dustboot) starts to break down - more and more salt, dirt, etc. gets into the caliper, eventually causing it to seize. This often happens in cars that sit for a while and have those conditions present. Normally a car that's used every day is less likely to have this happen, but the damage is still being done just the same, and eventually, it'll seize no matter what.

guys, the #1 reason why ppl find stuff hard to work on is cuz they don't understand it's function or how it works. well, check out http://auto.howstuffworks.com/disc-brake.htm

If you don't know what you're doing, why are you messing with your brakes? Sometimes it's worth paying someone who does, but it's your life.

its not thard to replace them - but 2 people posted that they could get calipers for 40 bucks - seeing as napa wants 130 thats a big diff in price - so I was just hoping someone would post to help me find them..... but I'm guessing they underestimated the cost
