Camber issues...

Hey guys, I have a 1994 Honda civic Coupe and I went to have my alignment done but they weren't able to start it because the tests on the machine showed that my alignment is off 1degree.
The tech told me to get a camber kit for the rear and front and now that's where I'm stuck at.

I have no idea what kind camber kit I should get.

I was quoted $400.00-/+ for a Ingals(SP?) camber kit for the front and rear.

I'm just wondering, does anybody know what kind kit I should get for my car??? or what I should do about my camber issue??

thanks
bartek

I wouldn't do a god damned thing about it... a little camber is a good thing. Just have them align your toe, and that's it. Don't let them toe the car in to combat camber wear... just have them set it at zero toe, and leave the camber as it sits.

If you want a camber kit, Ingalls is the best... Skunk2 and Eibach also make kits as does Progress and a few other companies too.

1 degree should give you too much problem, I think. As some people say it helps when you corner.

The rear you can fix with washers. Do as bbarbulo said and get the toe adjusted, that is what will really kill your tires.

yep camber kits are a waste of money.. well I guess they would be helpfull if you were drag raceing (fet the tire flat for total traction..) but there really is no need for one in your case....

Yes of course I read your first post, or I wouldnt of replied to it...

Do you know what camber kits are really ment for? They were designed to give more negative camber in an extreemly lowered car with big wheels, to give the wheel to fender clearence (ie air suspension/ hydros...) If you think the camber is such a big issue then raise your car up a bit to get rid of it... And then go see an alignment guy that knows something about lowered cars.. Because your current guy is telling you "1-degree will affect my car and he will not be able to do a proper alignment." which is compleate BS...

Like honestly, what are you smoking... and who are you calling a cheap *** (and wheres your place to call someone a cheap ***??) You own a bunch of neons..need I say more.. If I felt the need to waste my money on a camber kit I would man sometimes you should think before you speak... I wonder somtimes...

My alignment guy owns a 99 civic, and Delsol both lowered over 2 inches... been in the buisness for over 15 years... If he laughs at me and says to take that stupid camber kit back to the store and get my money back so he can align the car proberly without it, Im gonna listen to him...

sketch, wheel and tire zone gets recommended a lot

dingus8, ya.... you are somewhat right. For tire wear it would be good to have 0 camber, and 0 toe but in reality... it's not ideal. Take a look at a stock BMW, stock S2000... they all have negative camber dialed in at the factory. Now, I'm not saying that I'm the ****** alignment king, but I have noticed that most enthusiasts (and I mean enthusiasts, not posers and wannabes) as well as racers, dial in some negative camber purposefully. Also, most kits range +1 to -3 degrees.... which would tell me they are meant for MORE camber, not less. I wouldn't know though, my car is not that low, plus my tires are so wide if I had any less camber they wouldn't fit in the wheelwell. I just got the alignment guys to get my toe corrected after my brake swap and VOILA!! the tire wear has been excellent!

If your car has -1.0 camber, you are in trouble. Your tires will mostly likely last 2 seasons max. Get the complete ingals kit. It is worth every penny. (it will save you $$$ in the long run).

Peace.
