As a 1st car for a young person, I'd go with a 5th gen.

A few reasons:

1) They are cheap and easy to find
2) Insurance on them isn't as crazy as say a 6th or 7th gen.
3) Aftermarket support, I assume you'll wanna "hook it up" nice.
4) They look the best.

sorry Duy, but 6th gens look wayyy better IMO.... not that 5 gens look bad tho... im talkin about coupes tho....5 gen hatches look sweet, and IMO wayyyyy better than the 6th gen hatchies...

I'd also say get a 5th gen, coupe or hatch, theyre good cars and have lots of aftermarket support.... if it was me, id look at gettin a 5th gen Si hatch.... nice options (i luv sunfroofs) and theyre pretty peppy... to pinpoint exactly which car is for you, ud have to tell us your future plans for the car.

5th or 6th gen coupes... they look mint!

i'm sure 5th gens will cost overall less, but to me, a 6th gen coupe looks better than a 5th gen coupe!

i'm not a big fan of honda hatch's.. they look kinda delicate? not sure if that's the word.

I dunno for some reason I'm not feeling the 5th gen coupe...I can dig the 6th gen coupe.

even if you get a sedan...you'll be good. Nothing wrong with a 4dr

good point, i'm pretty sure as soon as u drop down to 2 doors, your insuarnce will go sky high (Since u're a 16 year old male i'm assuming?)

yea 4 doors are awesome..... if they've got a turbo and AWD (WRX) or they are something like Duy's awesome hybrid! hehe

j/kiddin!

2000 SiR - the best Civic to ever come to Canada. You're f*kd for insurance though. My second choice would be a 5th gen Si coupe, those cars look hype when they're lowered

BigMike's 16 yrs old...you might want to consider the 4dr for insurance sake. The insurance co. will have a feild day with you if you get a coupe Si any gen. Hey wait...aren't you under graduated license(sp) ??

You can do alot with a 4dr...there's a lot of after market stuff

re:suggestions

yes cosmic girl, i am under graduated lisencing, but i just have to get a car because i have some money now and if i don't decied on a car, i'll probably waste it on something else. I think i am going to consider a 5th gen hatch. I'm thinking of doing a engine swap, hopefully B16, and fill it up with aftermarket goodies. Exterior i want a nice but sutle bodykit, 17 inch mr-7's powdered satin black. SIR blue. and interior all black with 2 sparcos. That's my ideas. Does anyone know of anywhere to get a cheap 5th gen hatch, any model(i'm swapping engine anyways). Thanx

I alright.. take a look at my signature line... click the URL and hit it, read up on some of the info there what I've done to date with my 5th Gen Hatch...

(granted, I still haven't added the engine rebuild I did, nor the lowering, nor the new rims and tires, nor the neon body kit)

Next ask Duy to send you some specs on his 4 door hatch (he also has a rebuilt hybrid with a B18 powering his ride).

HappyB16 also has a similar setup to me (minus the turbo prep rebuild) with a B16 and he did have 17" wheels on his car..

Get a feel for the 5th Gens, they are cheaper on insurance!
Like Duy said the Aftermarket support is great!
Hatches are FAAAAAAAAST with the right buildup etc.

You can also turn a hatch into a rolling sonic boom maker with very little effort (dimensions of the interior are pretty sweet for a sound stage).

Just my .02

Regards,
OK

if you find some under $4000 let me know... i'm thinking of trading mine in (97Ex) for two early 5th gens 92ish
one hatch, and one coupe
*one for daily driving
*one for speed

(this way CosmicGirl and I will each have our own )

Interesting... Be sure to come talk to me before you start work on that "speed" part. I've got some ideas.
