Changing automatic tranny to a stick ?

Hi guys, im new to this game, just picked up a 94 dx coupe, its an automatic, but ive heard it can be changed to a stick and its not that expensive.

I didnt buy a stick right now, b/c my sister needs to drive the car as well, but im thinking if i should start to do up the car over the next year, b/c after a year my sister will no longer need it, and then i can change it to a stick

or

should i just beat the car for a year and then buy another one thats stick

by starting now ill get a year headstart, and i dont really want to wait if a tranny swap can be done inexpensively later

Any input/opinions are appreciated, im new and this post might sound stupid lol

depends on condition of your car right now and depends on how much you got your car for....

if you're only losing 1g or less in car value when you sell it next year... of course sell the car, add 1g and get a good one.... but if the car depreciates more than 1g in the next year or so.... keep it and mod it to a stick... might as well save up for some engine upgrades... you know what i mean...

but then... if your current car is in poor physical condition, why bother spending the 1g in converting it to a stick?? unless the condition is really mint that you can't find another car in this condition at this price... i suppose your car is in great condition if you would consider saving up for a conversion... if so, keep it and save up for the $$$ to convert

.

i just picked it up 180k on it, mint condition, obviously the paint isnt great, its fading and has scracthes but that will happen with any 10 year old, but the body is mint and i paid 2 grand for it

its more the fact that i can get started on the cars interior and exterior now, and in a year or so do the engine stuff and change it to a stick then, that way i get a year headstart and can start the interior and exterior asap, if you understand what i mean

i was also talking to another guy today, and he was saying stick isnt neccesarily better, if you have an automatic and put a shift kit or something in it it will push

anybody know about shift kits, im new to this like i said so any opinions are appreciated

well, if u only picked the car up for 2 gs and it has 180 k on it, id suggest trying to sell it again at a high price cuz it sounds to me like u got a deal when u bought the car. Try selling it for maybe 4gs then buy another civic that is 5 speed...
Automatics are gay, i hate seeing a modified car that is auto. In my whole life, im never gonna swith to an auto cuz i just hate em too much >_<

ya i think i got a pretty good deal on it, just the brakes are getting done, but dealers are selling for 4gs like you said, but in private people were selling the car for about 3000-3500

but if i wanted a 5spd i would have bought it in the first place, i need an auto for now so my sister can drive it as well b/c my parents dont let her touch the benz

If you do any downtown driving, stick to what you have. You can get a performance torque convertor if you so choose.

keep it stock for now and just put on exterior pieces that u can remove, then in a year or so , take off your exterior mods /interior and sell it stock, dont so ne thing to crazy that will involve paying someone to remove stuff

If you decide to keep the car for a while than it's
worth to convert ... the difference is like night and day.

It will be so much more fun to drive , City or Hyw. it don't
matter...

if you consider doing the manual swap, mind as well put some more money and put a newer engine and do the swap together at the same time because that way the engine and tranny is newer and lower km 180km is quite a bit.

CivicZ was ur 88 blue?
n is ur DX blk w/ a full kit, lowered, n w/a hood scoop on the hood?

The swap costed me an arm and a leg, but tis is some of the stuff u'll need found from team-integra.com

-tranny
-intermediate shaft
-clutch
-flywheel
-throw out bearing
-pilot bearing
-clutch slave
-clutch master
-hydro lines (there are 4 lines in all, 3 hard lines and 1
soft line)
-speed sensor ( if you dont have one)
-shifter fork (if you dont have one)
-ECU
*linkage, shifter, and **** ( the ruber mount at the end of *the linkage, some people do not include them)
*cluster if you want one (auto cluster works fine)
*rear motor mount, side tranny mount and upper tranny mount
*tranny fluid
