Differences between IACV and FITV idle problems?
Hi there, i'm having a CRAZY fluctuating idle problem, goes from 1500 to 2500 and then once it's warmed up from 1300 - 1700. It used to stop all together, but with a very high idle once warmed up, now no more...
So, am i correct in assuming that the IACV would affect both the cold and warm idle and that if the problem is only there when cold it's the FITV?
And does anyone have a IACV for sale?
Thanks!
pm me if needed!

have you removed your IACV and cleaned it? Also there are tests to determine if your IACV is the faulty component. I would suggest picking up a haynes/helms manual for your car and running through the tests.

i have cleaned it throughly, and i don't have a haynes manual, i would love to get one but i'm broke as *&^% at the moment...and as i'm sure others on here have had this problem i was hoping that someone would be kind eough to tell me how to test it.

If your FITV is really bad, then it would affect both cold and warm conditions. My old B18 was like that. No amount of cleaning fixed it.. Had to replace it.
What engine is this for? My H22 did that, I had to adjust the BISS screw above the throttle body.. Fixed it instantly.
One way to test is to remove electrical clip of the IACV while teh car is running and see if the idle settles. If not, loosen all the bolts on the FITV, run the car and then pull it off while running. See if the idle settles. It won't settle to the proper idle, but should stop fluctuating.

it's a DOHC ZC, i'm pretty sure i have a FITV...so what you guys are saying, is disconnect the two vales seperately, and although the idle won't be completely smooth, it will stop the craZy fluctuation - is this right?

just for anyone who's also having this problem, it turned out to by my FITV, however i believe the by cleaning both it helped the idle a lot, and while i was doing it, i sprayed some carb cleaner in my intake and cleaned out my TB as well as spraying some carb cleaner in the intake as the care was running (it than ran like crab for about 1 minute, black smoke out the exhuast) and now it runs super smooth!
