Angry Engine Light!!

So I'm driving down the street with my buddy last night when...BLING the check engine light goes on...I'm like what the fudge??? So I turn the music down and try to listen for any noises...nothing..pull over, pop the hood..still nothing...So I stand there freezing my b@lls thinking to myself if I should even drive home lol
Now I'm not the best with cars....still just getting into it, so I'm just wondering if it could just be something stupid like a frozen sensor or something...ANY help would be great as I don't wanna take it to my mechanic to see what's wrong with it

Well if its a solid engine light you can drive on it. If it starts flashing then u got something to worry about. Then do this: http://www.torontocivics.com/tccforums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=51

That should be right around where your ECU is. Maybe even tucked behind it such that you have to remove your ECU to see it.

If it's not there it is tucked up just under the dash on the passenger side directly above the ECU in a green rubber grommet, like it is in the EG's.

engine light

Most of the time engine light comes on is your Gas cap not tight enough after u fill up the gas station. Try and see if that's tight. Make sure u hear a click everytime when u tighten your gas cap. Engine light is not really much to worry about anyways. It is just sensor problems. U have to go to a mechanic shop to get them check out the code. It takes them like 5 min or less and they charge u like $90 for the code with diagnostics.

i think you need to check out the link above, cause u don't have to take it to a garage. you can check it yourself in 2 minutes or less if you know what your doing.

The most common problem I've heard of, is the o2 sensor needing to be replaced.

K I feel retarded....went to get gas today.....NO GAS CAP!! WTF?
I guess I forgot to put it back on after filling my tank the other week.
Now I have to wait and see if the light turns off...hopefully that was the only problem.....

The light won't turn off by itself. Just go to a mechanic shop and give them like $5 to turn it off or u can use the way that they showed u. I told u it was the gas cap because most of the time that people come into the shop for engine light is the gas cap not tight. There are exceptions though. As least your sensor has no problem which save u a big $$$. A lot of places will charge u like $50 more to turn the engine light on. If that's the case leave it. No harm to your engine.

turn off the light yourself by resetting the ecu, disconnect battery or pull the back up radio fuse, wait a few minutes and reconnect or put fuse back
