engine shampoo

My engine is quite filthy, so I wanna clean it up nice. I don't know if it'll be worth my time to shampoo it myself, so I'm considering getting it done if it doesn't cost too much.

Have any of you done this yourself, and if so, what product(s), and techniques did you employ?

For those of you who have had this done, how much am I looking at price wise, and can you recommend any good places to go?

Thanks

Honda dealer charges 44 + tax. I did it last year or two years ago, just for the kick of it. Then I bought the shampoo stuff from CT and did it myself, can't tell much of a difference but I guess it is cleaner.

best way to do it is to grab an engine cleaner from canadian tire, spray it on, let it sit for the specified time, spray off.

some places do it for you for 29.99+tax

I found a place that will do it for $25. I'm willing to do it myself, but I'm worried about spraying it all off. Is it ok to soak my engine like that?

i have the same question... cause im willing to do it myself also but it doesn't seem to me like a good idea to grab my hoes and start spraying at my engine bay.

the only reason that you shouldnt do it at your house is that the petrolum in the cleaner will distroy your driveway for the 25 - 40 bucks it cost your better off letting someone else to do it plus if they get it in the dizzy they are liable for what happens
