Post extra d series performance!!!

hey we all know that d16y8 or y7 doesnt offer much in terms of performance ....lol.....but for the ppl out there with there stock d series engines in the models si and below, what are some mods to increase performance ..........
we arent talking cai, exhaust etc.
more like headers, fuel rails, fuel injectors, turbo ( how long can a d-series take it), and all the stuff....doesnt matter what the price for a mod, aslong as it DOESNT include a engine-swap .........

Forced induction will get you the largest & best bang for the buck performance

BUT comes at an expence, many different areas must be explored,

fuel/timing computers, or alterations
turbo/manifold/chargepipes/intercooler/blowoffvalves/wastegates/fuel pump/injectors
say around $1500 - 2000$ for a decent "safe turbo setup"

all motor builds will cost you around the same if not more, but not yeild the same hp

WHAT? 2000$ buys the d-i-y turbo kit, where as a b16 will cost you $2000 installed, for 160hp and 112 tq??????

a turboed d15/d16 will range between 180-220 hp & average 170 tq to the wheels!

LOL, take that "hot" cam of yours and go on a date

cams are only good as the valve train its turning realistically

So far, 300whp +/- and 250 +/- wtq is considered top of the D series. Turbocharged.

Set that as your goal, and just keep adding money to the motor and you will reach that eventually.

sleeve's, low compression forged internals, kryoteched block, and full head work, with a forced induction will get you very high numbers.

You are right, the setup I saw/was talking about used stock internals :P I saw that but didn't register it.

I think the beauty is the troque that comes with it.

IMO, if you have 300+ hp in a Civic, you are no longer driving a Civic. And a stock BLOCK Civic can make those numbers happen pretty easily. Beyond that, tires will suffer, the car will be undrivable... all I want for x-mas is < 300 hp hahaa

After the 300 hp mark, it's time to invest in things like roll cage, Z-10 bars, Quaife (which you should get anyways), Stage 2 or 3 axles.... things like that.

Forced induction D series is the most cost effective street machine.

i wouldnt trust a stock block D series, the rods are like tooth pics, over 200hp on them is pushing it.

As far as turbo is concerned, what method can shorten the lag time? Misfire system?

lag time as in turbo lag ???, smaller turbo will lessen lag, but comes with a hp cut up in higher rev's

lag isnt always an enemy, I rather think of it as launch control!
