Going back to regular oil after synthetic?

For a b16a2 motor, or any motor that is, can you go back to using regular oil after using synthetic oil?

you shouldn't... synthetic oil really is the way to go and you shouldn't switch back and forth... i recommend you just stay with synthetic.. and not some semi synth crap...

Some people have better results when switching back to to normal oil. As I see some people small leaks went away. And just like Scott said....its fine to go back.

they won't go away if the engine was already run on synth...
usually if your engine was run on dinosaur oil then you put in synthetic the synth does such a good job cleaning your engine internals that small leaks develop... becuase of little pieces of dirt chilling in places where oil could leak... but goign back to regular oil would not stop these leaks now... it's teh cirt particles not the oil...

so mixed opinions, does anyone know for sure that you can? Reason being is that i'm looking at buy one of 2-3 cars all of which are using synthetic oil. I dont always want to keep putting synthetic in it so i'm wondering if i can switch them to regular. If not, it's not a big deal i'll just keep using synthetic.

the answer is YES.. but considering the advantages of synthetic especially in our high revin cars, I would never change back.

U can change it back, but u are not supposed to. It could be bad for your engine. I just use regular oil because i'm cheap haha.

You can run whatever oil you want in any order that you want. Synthetic oil is a waste of money on a stock Honda engine. It was designed and engineered and tested and warrantied to run on normal oil. If you've got cams and a tune that spins to 9500 or a forced induction setup then maybe it's worth it.

Synthetic oil is NOT a waste on any newer OHC engine. On start up your valvetrain is running almost bare-metal. Id recomend it for any daily driver, Especially in cold weather. My parents Dodge van ran on Synthetic its whole life. Any car that sits outside and is used in the winter should use synthetic oil. But thats jsut my oppinion, Sure normal oil is Fine but synthetic reduces wear much more.

Use synthetics like Royal Purple or Amsoil which cost a lot more But you can run it much longer before your next oil change. If you want to cheap out you can run x2 as long as you would usually on normal oil so the price diff isn't really noticed. 1 oil change replacing 2

You can buy Redline at Crappy Tire.
Royal Purple is sold at Performance Improvements.

BTW, you can go back to regular after synthetic, and the oils are compatible.

Does it really matter how long the oil lasts when you have to change you filter at the same increments? The oil outlasts the filter correct?

I've considered switching to synthetic, but I still don't really see that much of a benefit. Why is synthetic that much better aside from temperature effects?

If you look at the oil under a Microscope, Synthetic Oil's molecuel's are all the same size and In a pattern. With conventional Oil Its in blobs large and small. Synthetic is refined more and more broken down, Hence why it can get into cracks and creveses normal oil can't(also why it leaks in engine's with lower tolerences). It also stay's viscous at a much lower temperature. And why does everyone like Royal Purple and Amsoil? Personally I'll stick with Mobil 1. Porsche's,Vette's and The NSX all come with Mobil 1. And Mobil is owned by Exxon-Mobil, A Billion dollar company. You think some dinky little company liek Amsoil can compete with an Oil Giant who can dump Millions into R&D at the drop of a Hat? I dont' think so. If Amsoil and Royal Purple were so Good you'd see High-Performance car's come out of the Factory using it. And what are endurance racer's using? Mobil 1 last time I checked.
