Atucally my Nokians were pretty cheap and the are prob the best tire out there. As long as you don't want an odd size or massively wide ones like 205, beside no one ever does that.

If you get a common size I think you'll find them a resonable price.

There is also a lot of talk about where to put snow tires if just using two.

Even on Front wheel Drive, a lot of tire manufactures still reccommend mounting them on the rear, doesn't make sense to me.

Anyone have anything to add on the issue?

Well I would be putting them on my stock 13 steelies so I'm guessing they shouldn't be that much.

You should always have four tires all with the same weather rating. If you go with just two winters up front, the back end will handle differently, especially when breaking and cornering.

As for cheap, I bought a set of Kumho Izen Stud winters last year and they were damn cheap. I paid $240 at Wheels Direct, but with the affilliates, you could probably get a better deal. They performed very well last winter, although it was quite mild too. Also, I noticed little tread wear. For the price, I doubt they can be beat for value and performance.
