I thought 5W-30 is fine for the summer? Mourad, I think it's ok to use those for the summer, since that's what Honda recommends that we use anyway. i.e., Honda didn't say 10W-30 for the summer, then switch to 5W-30 for the winter, no?

Honda recommends 10w-30 in weather conditions from -20 to 30 celcius and 5w-30 below 0.. but its ok to use 5w-30 in the summer too .. no problems i just prefer to go by the book.. the manual also says you can use 10w-40 in anythin over -20..

Shelf life on oil, long time. I wouldn't worry about it wasting away before the winter if you do change to 10W. But as far as the running of the stuff you have now..........End of the day, it won't make a difference. both are good for the summer months in your vehicle. I'd would use it. Most cars today run 5W-30 year round.
As for the 0W only nice thing about that is they recommend you can go 20k between oil changes, but I wouldn't, or if you do, make sure you at least check your oil often, they don't guarentee you won't run out and pop your motor All new cars like Saab, BMW etc now run 0W.

tubo D17 in new Civics tend to spin their bearings cuz ppl continue to use 0W20 after turbo. *hammer* New cars run this oil cuz it decreases emissions and increases fuel efficiency. it does nothing for longevity. 5W30 remains king for everyday use.

That's NuGold. 15 hours of serious oil research and development can't be wrong.
