why would you do this if your current muffler is fine? you going to gain about ZERO hp, and its going to look and sound the exact same as it did before... waste of time and money IMO... save your efforts and money for a 2 1/4' catback...

I've upgraded to an SiR midpipe, but still have my stock Si muffler. So now I need a better muffler to complete the upgrade. With the midpipe, I've already noticed the engine running smoother at high RPM (3500+ RPM) even with the stock muffler. I wonder how much better it'd be if I hook up an ITR muffler.

ok..lol..you didnt mention you had the midpipe already... your stock muffler is definately chokeing the midpipe... You will get better top end.. but it still isnt 2 1/4' .. wont be a drastic change.. most you will see is about 5hp with the whole midpipe and muffler...

Would I be better off with an ITR muffler or something like a Magnaflow/Dynomax? I think the latter have 2.25" axle-back pipes... I wonder how big the ITR axle-back pipe is too... 2"?

I heard the Magnaflow could be quite loud... whereas someone on the foums say the Dynomax is almost as quiet as stock. What do you think? And what's wrong with an ITR muffler? It's supposed to flow 195hp no?

Most companies do make quiet mufflers... just most ppl choose not to buy them. Magnaflow and Dynomax both have nice quiet exhausts, but I prefer Magnaflow. However, w/o listening to it first, you are taking a stab in the dark. Si Veloz has one of the nicest, quitest aftermarket exhausts around, and JookSingKid also has a really nice, quiet exhaust.

Would you know what Si Veloz and JSK's exhaust are?

Magnaflow and Vibrant respectively, but it's not who MAKES the exhaust, but rather what TYPE of exhaust you buy. Ask the individuals for the specifics of what exhaust they have.

I have a Vibrant muffler W./ silencer ... with the silencer out and as a direct replacement of OEM muffler without any other exhaust mods (ie.. stock manifold, midpipe, with cat) its a very low non annoying exhaust note... with silencer in its quiet as a mouse.. Its the quietest can style muffler ive ever heard with the silencer in and out...

But since I did headders, fireball midpipe without catconverter, its a loud deep exhaust note, like you can feel it in your chest at WOT.. I dont find it annoying... But the midpipe and headders are the main contributers to the sound here...

I think you can get these for around 100 buck now..

itr mid pipe is 2 1/4...it is a low restrictive stock muffler....it's not liek you get huge gains puttign an exhaust on an itr.....get a itr muffler....a canister exhaust is gay and loud and out of style....the "stock" look is ungay and mroe excetable to police...

Well Magnaflow has different styles to choose from, they make the loudest muffler you can find, and they make the quietest one you can find, and a few in between... i think dynomax is the same... Theres nothing wrong with the ITR muffler if you have the midpipe to match... if you had the smaller diameter midpipe, upgradeing to the ITR muffler alone would show no results...

The whole Idea of a good exhaust system is to have everything match to make a perfect flow of gases... The smoother it pulsates through the pipes and out the muffler the better the results you will see... bacically the smallest diameter of the exhaust is as good as the exhaust will ever be...

Im not sure of the diameter of an ITR pipe...

yah yah.. everyones always hurting to be different eh... once everyone puts thier stock tail lights and oem mufflers back on, then the altezzas and can mufflers will be cool again.. endless cycle just like the clothing industry...

So you say the ITR is 2 1/4? then j9chan I would finish it off with the ITR muffler.. probably be cheaper, and it will bolt right up to your existing midpipe
