Question How many horses would I get if.....

I'd like to know how many hp's would I get if I did the following things to the engine?

1. Cold Air Intake
2. 4-1 Header
3. 2 1/2 Exhaust
4. Dual Exhaust Muffler( Free Flow)
5. Larger Cat
6. Cam(soch)
7. Msd

Right now I checked how much my car has and the base is 102hp. So if I did the upgrade and tuned it to the best setting I can. How much do you think my engine would put out? I believe like around 150 right?

Would you think it's worth the time and money or should I just go turbo?

it all depends on the type (quality) of parts you add, and how responsive your motor is to them.
Some parts might work better for you as for others will work better with other motors.

but coreyhayman is right ...... 50 sounds like a huge jump for those mods.... the best thing to get a power increase of that much is getting a swap done... because even if you add all that to what I believe is a D-series motor, you'll end up topping out at a pretty riduculous number unless you go FI.

not worth the time or money.

thats just my two cents, but they who am I ?

10-15 if your lucky...minus the cam...im not sure what the cam will do for you (maybe another 15hp) cuz I dont know what one it is specs..ect... thing is, that all those parts will be nececary for if you do go turbo...minus the headder and intake... Its a good start, where most people start from, the car will be more responsive, soundnicer, Top end will have way more grunt and it will be a good base for bigger stuff...

putting a dual exhaust on a SOCH will cause you to loose back pressure...

also....why not take the $$ that you want to put into the 7 things listed and swap?

if you only have 102 hp to begin with i wouldn't bother modding the motor... just do suspension now and wait till you can get a real motor

ya but your still wasting both of there potential on a sohc non vtec.... if your gonna buy them may as well keep them in the box so that when they are put to use on a deserving motor they will be new and not used

and come on, putting on the msd ignition and exhust will maybe bump the power to 105hp maybe... cause that motor is not new and probably only making 95 or less flywheel hp...

yup .... the results are minimal.

lets see here.

1. CAI (AEM) : $300-$400
2. Headers (DC) : $400-$600
3. Exhaust (Greddy, 5-Zigen, HKS, DC, Apex-i ) : $500-$1000
4: High Flow Cat (Randon tech) : $200-$300
5: Cam (whatever) : $400-$600
6: MSD ignition: $200-$300

you do the math and compare to what a B16a2 would cost you.
and then compare the differences in what you would gain with both.

Obviously these are just really rough estimates in terms of prices give or take a couple of hundred.

Man..... I never thought that I would only get like around 15-20hp will all that money spent. Might as well slap a t3/t4 on it and boost the hell out of it. I might just go with the b16 but everyone is doing it. I want to stand out and see what I could do without the swap. Well now im leaning toward.....

1. boring out the block
2. forged pistons
3. better rods
4. port and polish head(the works...titanium valve, springs, etc..)
5. t4/t5 turbo boosting at 8psi daily and 12psi racing
6. safc
7. water intercooled
etc......

I'll try not to spend more then $10,000 for now....

yes, any motor will make power :

P&P...a header, exhaust and proper tuning I guarntee you almost 15-20hp with that alone..

forced induction is another option, but make sure you know what the motor can handle..

Well I changed my mind about turbo right now since winter is comming up. I just want to do a swap. What engine would be the most powerful and easliy to swap without any changes?

b16a or b18c would be easy enough... can be kinda pricey if your not swapping yourself
