Yeah.. I did my engine bay with simple green, some water and a rag. Looked awesome.

 

steam the **** out of it but remove any electrical sensors and harness's. Also varsol works really well with a wire brush.

 

**** theres so many holes all over it lol, cant cover them all... I am scared of puting water on it, lol I took some brake cleaner and it did a bit of diff... lol hope that was the right thing to do, as for the cover, I am changing it to a Carbon Fiber one so no wories there, I am gona clean this motor like I clean my own baby... lol just wandering the header, can I sand it and use high heat paint to paint it? I don't like the somewhat rusted look... I am just gona paint it black till we put a turbo on the thing... lol so yeah... that's the update for the momment

 

get it sand blasted, most places should charge you like 20 bucks at most as it wouldnt take any time at all and then use a engine block paint that should be fine

 

wtf? sand blasted? The dude just wants a clean engine bay, not remove the motor and zap the crap out of it.

 

He said the headers if you could read coherantly!!!! Notice the post just above mine, also the motor is already out of the car he just picked it up. Follow the thread before you say something stupid please.

 

Just use a degreaser, scrub the damn thing, wash it out..

It doesn't matter if some water gets in places. It'll all dry off in a while.. Don't go pressure spraying the distributor internals but you understand ... use common sense..

Think about those JDM motors in japan sitting in junkyards getting rained on day and night.. When I got my H22, the spark plug chambers were full of nasty water..

I know your excited about the new motor, but concentrate spending money on things like a new timing belt / pump / plugs / wires / cap / rotor.. and perhaps some sensors that may be missing or broken.
