From: not at the pump...
or time to start putting oil in at regular intervals, either ring blow by, or the valve seals are toast

man i don't even know if my oil light works, i took it in yesterday for an oil change, kinda past do by like 5000km, so i figured it would be low and the dip stick was almost dry, gave me a little scare.
exactly how low does your oil have to be before the light should come on

and sorry for this post having nothing to do with what your talking about Rick

ya the light went off like 3-4 secs after i was going straight... i just pulled over to check.... vtec was engaging and disenganging the whole time of the light being on...

must have starved the oil pump lost pressure then regained it again once oil was in the pan and not forced on the side

same symptoms of my buddys old H23... spun a bearing a week later, the oil light was off when the bearing went, and he wasnt even pushing it hard at the time, just highway cruising...

but wehn he preveously pushed it hard the oil light would come on, but it was showing fine on the dip stick... sounds like yours was due to the cornering..but still ive never heard of that happeing, i guess its possible, kinda like the gas light comeing on...

install a real oil pressure gauge. The oil light is not the best way to keep tabs on your lubricating system. I learned the hard way.....

thats weird, considering there was no synthetic oil way bak in the old 4th gen days... correct?

i can see them saying that for a newer car on synthetic...even still, if i ran synthectic it would be 8,000 max...

I change every 4,000 on dino juice.

The light comes on when there is a lack of oil pressure, the light wont come on when its just low. It is a pressure guage not a level sensor, that is why when you put the ignition on without the engine running, the light will be on. Pressure is 0 when the engine is off. When the light flickers, that is when the sump is trying to pick up oil and it is all on the side of the oil pan, when you are cornering at speed. It is a dry sump system. there is no oil splash it is all under pressure

My oil light started coming on/off (during hard turns or hard braking) just before my last oil change. I knew I was over my limit (usually change every 4k, was upto 5.5 or 6k)... turns out i lost nearly all the oil, which is odd, cause it never leaked... so Im thinking I burnt it all... but no smoke or anything. still a mystery. Now i keep tabs on it every week to make sure it's still in the full range.

to my knowledge that 12000 kms is for normal driving... we're in the severe conditions
