yes but it will be slower than normal cause of the long gearing that isnt' good for high rpm all motor vtec engines...

n/a GSR is no good with that tranny, you'd fall outta VTEC all the time. NO GOOD! you'd lose at least 1/2 second in the 1/4 mile.

A friend of mine drives a b16 hatch with the LS tranny and its a great combination, for the type of driving that he does. If you are going to be spending a large amount of your time on the highway then the longer gear ratios work to your benefit. His fuel cutoff is set at 9200 so he doesn't fall out of VTEC when he's got the funpedal down but I'm guessing that lower RPM engines would have that problem.

if he's spinning that thing to 9200 on stock valve train and bottom end then it won't last to much longer.....

but i'm sure his ECU is chipped so that makes it ok

Theres nothing out there that can convince me that your freind makes power all the way to 9200rpm.

All he is doing is abusing the motor.

No matter if he's going N/A or FI. Shorter gears will out accelerate a longer geared transmission if all other factors and equal.

Short gears > Long gears

I'm not going to get all defensive about his motor because its not mine. Its not stock by a long shot and he has had it dyno tuned. Between him and the people who help him with his car you can believe that there is enough IQ to know not to run the car where it isn't making power. The car is driven hard and hes put 50k on it in the last year and a bit with no problems so I wouldn't consider it abused.

I'll keep on topic and state again, that for highway driving, its a great combination. I'm not saying its faster all the way through but on the highway being able to use second gear all the way to a reasonably fast highway speed ( 100 + a nice ticket ) makes it good. Having driven it and seen how it does against other cars I can tell you that it is not slow. It also allows for increased fuel economy in an economy car that doesn't quite qualify as a gas sipper anymore. If you've filled up in the last few weeks you might realize why this would be a good thing.

You gotta pay to play man. Noone ever said that modifying cars was cheap or easy. Sure the car may scoot, but another guy can have the same setup as your friend but use a shorter geared tranny and would win against your friend (figuring everything else is equal)....

How deep does your wallet go?

Are you actually trying to convey useful information with that post or are you trying out for a part in the fast and the furious 3?

Reading comprehension... look into it. Then read my post again. Then figure out what I was saying. Then quit pointing out the obvious.

Alright there man.

Yes you can put an LS tranny on a GSR motor. All b-series parts are interchangeable and it should work fine with one exception. LS trannys have longer gears compared to the GSR tranny. This yields slower acceleration and you may even fall out of the powerband with these longer gears, making you slower in 1/4 or whatever type of racing you do.

Happy now?

GSR tranny is a great happy medium. It hase a nice close ratio all the way through 4th gear, then it has its nice 5th gear for highway cruising and fuel economy. Honda designed the GSR to be a "practical" performance car!

Its like taking the best of both worlds and putting it into one tranny. ITR like 1-3 LS economy like 5th gear for fuel consumption and ware and tare...

pluse if your lucky you can find a GSR tranny with an OEM optional LSD

Oh now I get what you're saying. I didn't understand it the first two times you posted the exact same thing, but now that you worded it that way, its all clear. Just a question, why do you assume that the guy wants to race? He never said anything about it.

alright my conclusion to this matter.

LS gears = LONG, good for turbo apps to keep the Turbo spooling
SIR gears = Great for track since u will be in your powerband everytime u shift good combo

now with a LS motor with a ITR tranny.... all i gotta is HOLY SHIZNIT......... talk about letting your tires loose at 6500 RPM....
WHEELSPIN BABY!

to answer your question :

NO i wouldnt do it... why would u want to????
