muffler.straight through vs.chambered

hi every one.I have a striaght through muffler on my 95 dx coupe. No resonator and cat hollowed out.It sounds like crap. Was thinking of a chambered muffler adding more back pressure. Is it possible to get a chambered muffler that sounds good and is louder then stock.Any suggestions makes/prices.Thanks

They key is getting a nice long resonator... the muffler design is less important. And buy a new cat while you are at it... it's there for a reason. Either that or use a test pipe. I have a chambered Flowmaster on my Saturn and love it... quiet and deep.
