nitro?

what all do you have to do to an engine that you wanna put some happy gas on?

i'm thinkin of going out and installing some on my old engine just for ****s and giggles once i get the good one built...

but does anything really have to be done like adjust timming or something?

I think you have to retard your timing 3 degrees and run different plugs.

are the plugs nessessary? like when the nitro is actually put on it wont really matter if the engine blows cause the other will be waiting to go in anyways

nothing huge... i just wanna see what nos is all about keeping in mind this will be on a d16z6 with 310 000 kms... so i guess a 50 shot? like what is the smaller types?

i might put it on the built engine as well but that's a whole other ball of wax tuning wise

50 shot will run fine with colder plugs...fuel pump is highly recomended...just do a good tune up...if u want to run a 75 shot, u need timing and more fuel

dry or wet kit?? wet is nice and safe... if you're not afraid to blow it, I'd say 75 wet shot, cooler plugs, and and MSD if you can. It should last you a few days... and then the head gasket will blow.

BTW, nitro is a fuel... usually used in remote control cars. I think you mean nitrous oxide, N2O

Nitro motors in drag cars are... crazy. I know one guy running a nitro d15 del Sol. His motor is... well secret. I don't even know what it's got.

Yea I looked at this thread, I thought you were gonna run nitromethane in your motor lol. I've always wondered what would happened if you tried to run model engine fuel in a car, prolly can't be good.

As for N02, buy one of those sneaky pete NO2 systems, easily concealable, like in the bottom of a seat

^^why jsut take it out when on teh street

50 shot you won't need much...colder plugs set timing to make sure it's good.....but yoru clutch wont' handle it so...but if you wanna have some real fun throw a wet kit on there retard your timign run colder plugs and put the 75 shot jet in there... it probobly will hold up for awhile I bet...then when you wanna blow her up run a 100 shot and run threw all teh gears

Last summer i ran about 8 bottles of a dry 55 shot with nothing but colder plugs, and a good tune up, the clutch handeled it quite well, except sometimes spraying in 1st gear it would slip alittle.

I have over 210,000km, and she still has a full rad of coolent, and the oil still drains clean "ie headgasket is still there"

i just added a new fuelpump, and msd, so once i have my new motor on hand, ill spray the 75shot till she pops

just curious.... whats the difference with NOS wet and dry kits ?? which is the kit where a whole is drilled in the intake and then another hose splits into one of the hoses by the fuel rail... is that a wet kit ?? anyways i just wanted to know the difference between NOS wet and dry kits and also which would be safest not to blow my head gasket or anything.... like say i wanted to run a 50 shot on a B16A2 with 30,000km on it.... what would be safer to run on it the wet or dry kit ?? and with that safer kit and only running a 50shot do you think my b16a2 would be able to handle it no problem like it wont blow the head gasket or anything else will it ?? like obviously if its not being abused i mean... like no more then 2 quarter mile runs in a row spraying threw the whole run will my motor be safe ??

thanks

cheers

50 wet properly set up wont even tickle the motor... no more than 15 sec hits above 4,000rpm and it will be fine

ok by saying 50 wet properly setup what do you mean by properly setup ?? just colder plugs and make sure oil is topped off and regular oil changes and 94 octane gas ??

thanks....

and again whats the difference between a wet and dry setup ?? thanks...

wet sprays into your manifold or injectors, either way the key is the fuel and nitrous are premixed..

dry sprays into the intake tube and mixes with air instead or fuel, and bumps the stock FPR pressuer to provide the extra fuel...

people claim that wet is safer, but anything is safe if its researched and doen properly. Wet is capable of higher hp numbers tho... dry shots usually dont exceed 75-100 hp

Setup for a 50shot = one heat range colder plug with non-projected tips, 94+ octane, a good tune up, working o2 sensors ect... and proper installation of the kit and jets.

setup for a 65 shot= all of the above including a highflow fuel pump, 2-3 deg of timing retard, optional msd ignition for better performance.

setup for a 75 shot= all of the above plus bigger injectors, and maybe start thinking about timing management like a MSD Ignition/ timing Control

100+= dont go there untill you have experiance with the other 3 stages
