Is NOS legal?

http://www.torontocivics.com/tccforu...threadid=67307

All I know about that stuff is that it's in that car flick F&F, but is it legal in Canada and does it really make your car fly? Just looking for info, I'm definately not interested in using it.

it is not legal to have hooked up on public roads...

and only very big wings that produce lift plus a method of creating forward motion will make your "car" (now turned into a plane) fly....

just cause it was in F&F doesn't make it any good .. that movie was pure crap

Nothing wrong with using it, just use it off road.

Wow. Haven't seen this question for a while. Good to see that everyone still doesn't know the law. Currently it is legal to have a nitrous system installed, connected and functioning on your car on the street. The police may hassle you and threaten you and find ways to charge you, but it is completely legal. Now then, if you're caught USING nitrous, you've got lots to worry about. Not the nitrous, but dangerous driving, racing, whatever.
There is a whole other issue however.... if your insurance company finds out you've got nitrous.... and I've heard LOTS of stories about the police phoning insurance companies, then it's very likely your insurance company will cancel your policy.
Even though it's not against the law!

I'm sorry, but do you have an actual link to some proof, because the only reason I didnt plan on getting nitrous was because I thought it was illegal.

Regulations, carriage of explosives, etc.

112. (1) The Lieutenant Governor in Council may make regulations,

(a) classifying and defining explosives and dangerous materials;

(b) regulating or prohibiting the transportation of explosives and dangerous materials or any class thereof by a vehicle on a highway;

(c) regulating the preparation and packaging of explosives and dangerous materials or any class thereof to be transported by a vehicle on a highway;

(d) requiring the labelling of packages and containers of explosives and dangerous materials or any class thereof and prescribing the labels to be attached to such packages and containers. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 112 (1).

Code, etc., may be adopted by reference

(2) Any regulation made under subsection (1) may adopt by reference, in whole or in part, with the changes that the Lieutenant Governor in Council considers necessary, any code or standard, or any regulation made by the Government of Canada, and may require compliance with any code, standard or regulation that is so adopted. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 112 (2).

Penalty

(3) Every person who contravenes a regulation made under this section is guilty of an offence and on conviction is liable to a fine of not less than $100 and not more than $500 or to imprisonment for a term of not more than three months, or to both. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 112 (3).

Ok, so this is the only thing that I could find pertaining towards what could be classified is "nitrous", (by the way, NOS is something that Vin Diesel made up and doesn't actually exist, N.O.S. stands for Nitrous Oxide Systems, and Nytrous is the product), but anyway where was I. Nytrous could be classified as an explosive, because it is hooked up to your gas tank.. but if not hooked up, it is no more dangderous, providng it is bolted down to the vechile, than a Plumbers Acytelene tank, which I carry around with me everyday. But like Vanman stated Cops will phone your insurance company and they most likely will cancel your policy. But word of advice, The Highway traffic act is a 3.5"X8" book that is about 1.5" thick, and trust me there are charges in the book, from racing to an "unclear windshield" which could be anything from a crack in the window to a bug splatter you just got... which the police officer could give you a ticket for, so a cop WILL find somthing to give you a ticket for. So Even though it might suck that you just got pulled over, remember that it could get alot worse....... Thats my rant for the day

Wasn't there a link in one of the threads here to the Highway Traffic Act?

If it's gonna be anywhere it'll be in there.
