Hey guys i need to do my brakes asap...the thing is shops always have problems raising my car its a pain in the *** since its so low...the fiberglass sidesmkirts are always the biggest problem because they r basically 3 cm off the ground...i need a shop that does alot of lowered cars in the GTA and has experience working with lowered cars...last time i went to get my muffler done the friggin idiots almost tore my front and both sides off...can anyone suggest a place?

Try B-Line auto in sauga'..or just read and do it at home

 

b-line? there shop isnt any different than any other shop, they cant even get MY CAR onto the hoist without lifting it from the fenders, let alone this "3cm off the ground" civic

Untill something happens, and insurance finds out you did your brakes yourself...so much for insruance claim can you say OWNED lol thats why getting it done by a linscensed shop is best for that purpose, no matter if you can do brakes yourself or not.

 

^^um if you do them right then it dosent' matter who did them...use quality pads and rotors do teh job right and you will be fine...brakes are a rip off for how much they charge to how much work is involved..

 

how are they gonna find out?

 

there gonna ask for a receipt from the place you got your brakes done, you don't have them your in deep water.

It does matter, I know brakes are easy to do, but things can happen, sometimes people don't like to use torque wrenches and things could come loose, it could happen, even if it wasn't your fault and something failed, your still at fault.

 

Dude thats pretty lame. I dont' think insurance would can you. Unless your going to blame a stupid accident on failing brake's......lol. "I didn't mean to T-Bone him officer!!...My brake's failed!!"...................lmao...

 

the shop that lowered your car can lift your car?
and if they can do lowering, i think they can do brakes?

Whats so lame about it? although the chances are pretty slim, it can and does happen, and if insurance found out they would not cover you. When my gf was taking driving lessons the cop even came in and reassured anyone who works on the cars themselves would have problems if anything failed and they got into an accident etc, so Im just telling it like it is, I could care less if you work on your car, I do myself, you jus have to be a man and take responsibility if something happens, lots of wanabe tuners out there..

 

/\.I hear that. If your not confident enough to do it you just shouldn't do it. Brake's are a good thing to learn on though because there pretty easy. And Just tighten them. Ive never used a torque wrench on brake's and Im still alive..........lol,My stupid Malibu chewed a set of pads every 2 mnth''s.

 

just do them yourself, breaks are very easy to do

whatever you were going to spend at a "custom" shop that can lift your car for labour, you can now spend on a nice low profile jack and a set of 2x6's to start the lifting process

 

ACtually my ex-gf got into a massive t bone accident in which she t-boned another lady head on...The reason being her brakes failed and siezed and this was proven by the insurance companies "recommended" mechanic shop...So it does happen.

 

Ok guys so sorry, mis information here..

My dad cleared it up. Its ok if you work on your own car, if something happens insurance will cover it.

If you go to a shop to get work done, and something happens, that shop or person is responsible. So if you get a buddy to come over and do your brakes for you, and you give them money for it, its saying they are taking responsibility for anything that happens, so go ahead and do all the work yourself its ok

 

get quality parts from any part store, brakes even go on sale all the time man. get a jack and just boost ur car up and it urself. lots of DIY stuff on the net incase u dont know what ur doing. there is even books at public libaries about working specifically on civics. you save money, u know that ur car is being taken care of (u really think some mechanic is gonna car if he scratches ur car a lil puttin it on the hoist/stands?") and u know the quality of work that was done on it
if u lived in kitchener man id even help u do it, not hard. save ur cash and do it urself
