well, for the tach to get any signal, you have to have the engine running, so the answer would be YES!

thx guys~!
i fixed it..
it is working fine now~!!
i took out one screw inside the tach..for some reason b4..
that screw is the connection between two green electric board..
thats why ..the tach doesnt work b4..
now i put that screw back..and its fine now~!

haha..because i took out 1 screw inside the tach...so it didnt work b4..
now i put that screw back..it is working fine now..lol..

i installed the tach on the A-pillar ..
so i have to took out a screw inside the tach for changing the angle to make the numbers..horizontal...
my tach is not like the Autometer one..can change any angle u want easily....
