In my opinion it could be good and could be bad, like elistian said if your doing it yourself its a wasted of time because you may not no what your doing and you could loose hp but if you get it professionally done im sure you would gain alot

If you aren't paying much for it then its prolly gunna be a crappy job. Porting and polishing a head takes time and knowledge. Like civicdx said it could be more of a bad thing than a good thing if done wrong. And if done right its gunna be expensive. I would look into doing a mini-me swap if you wanted to pick up some relatively cheap power. You can get a d16z6 or any other SOHC VTEC head for damn cheap.
Port n polish alone prolly wouldn't be worth it. But in combination with 3 angle valve job, mill, some aggressive cams, stiff valve springs and adjustable cam gear would yeild good numbers. But what i mentioned alone would cost as much as parts for a b16 swap. But if a b-series swap isn't in ur budget then i would just get a SOHC VTEC head get it milled and get a decent cam and have yourself a potent little d-series.

It's not so much that it's not in the budget and the guy I can get to do it has been doing it for years on everything from two stroke GP bikes upto cars.. I'm just wondering if their will even be a horse power gain out of it..
