712's are great for the money. If you can get a better tire for the money, then go for it.

Ignorance is bliss. If you have never riden on a better tire, you are better off for it. I have put some serious mileage and abuse on some of the best tires on the market and will have a difficult time going back. The difference is small, but once you get used to that extra 5% difference it means the world.

712's are good in the rain, dry, and have decent wear and noise characteristics.

I use them. Good budget tire. Lasts long. Good in rain. Not a chance in snow.
