Say the shocks blew. How would they find out how low your car is anyway?
Well they really cant.
I had my DSM dropped 2"+ (with camber kits), and I blew 1 tokico shock. I brought it back and the sales guy smiled at me and said... "I'll just put down your car is on stock springs".

Most places will help you out because they do want your to come back and make more purchases.

I went to Northern Performance in Hamilton RE: my shock warrenty.

actually they can... the shock rod has a certain range say from just above stock height to full compression... well, in daily driving, the two extremems are rarely used, so the shock wear on the rod will be focused in one area - as you go over broken pavement, take turns, etc etc... so if they wanted to, the can find out how low you were compared to stock and deny the claim for the distributor. I think I blew both my front KYBs on my Saturn. if not blown, then WOW, they "break in" awful fast

Hmmm.....

So I guess its KYB AGXs then.... Around $500 eh?
Hmmmm.... That means saving money for a long time!!

Well, I wouldn't need them till say.... end of March anyway, right?
So that gives me 4 months (8 paycheques) to save from......

Hey what about USED shocks? Say some dude put a set of shocks for sale in classifieds....

Is it a good idea to buy USED ones? Would the warranty still stand? And how do I test a shock/strut to see if its blown or not?
Would just compressing it show the condition?

I do my own suspension work BTW....

who in their right mind would pay $600 for tokico blues, which i believe are **** i might add, when you can get koni red's from rich for a cheaper price...well it might be $600 depending on which civic but for my 4th gen its $500 flat. and koni red's OWN blue's and agx's...like i said in the passed, if your drop is 1.5" and you wanna use agx's because it won't void the warranty go ahead...but think about it...voiding a warranty for anything > 1.5" must mean something is wrong with those shocks.

Yeah, that does sound cheesy.....

Damn, I'n confused now!!

Seems like nobody is a fan of Tokico Blues.... And I get these mixed ideas about AGXs and Reds....

I don't know which one is better now.... See, I want the shocks to elimanate the bouncy ride and get it some where around the stock suspension COMFORT.

I don't want to freak out everytime I see a bump comming out. And I want to look forward for the other cars while driving; not at the road looking for bumps and holes!!!

So, whick one then? Reds or AGXs ?

I prefer the AGX's and blues over the reds. The blues would be a great match for the H&R sports. I wouldn't worry about the >1.5". I know a few guys on skunk2 coils with AGXs dropped about 2" and have no problems (it is the most comfortable 2" drop I have experienced - one guy even has 18s on his civic). My guess is that the 1.5" rule is to protect KYB in the event of someone using crappy springs or cutting coils. I don't believe it to be a problem with a reputable spring, though too low a drop (2.5") might be a problem due to shock stroke length.

like I said, blues are almost stock replacement. what you NEED is Koni Reds - they are AMAZING for the price. KYB AGX on the other hand is AMAZING price for adjustable shocks. Note my choice of wording - the wording reflects how I feel about them.

I have the koni reds and find them extremely bouncy in an controllable fashion.

I ride on H&R Sports and Koni reds. Excellent combo imo. Not the slightest bit bouncy, not too stiff. I didn't bother "adjusting" them, I just took em out of the box and installed. I would reccommend them anytime.
