if your gonna get a short ram get one with 2.5" diameter piping, 3" is too big.

But id look at getting a CAI. You can buy aem knock offs at Pacifica mall for $100. I bought a used ractive last night, 2.5" diameter pipeing and it works great.

and i was taking a look under the hood......

and a short ram filter SHOULD be right behind my hood scoop........where as my CAI filter is a few inches away

how about this.......... anyone with a short ram wanna trade for a day or so?

even with a short ram, its still prolly sucking in half hot air / cold air from the engine even with the scoop.

Unless you made a sealed off enclosure in the corner for the intake, like out of aluminumor something.

hot air...

I always wonder about that... how much "hot air" do you really think is passing around a short ram intake when the car is driving at 100km/h or 80km/h or even 50?

I bet that on dyno tests, sure they do poorly compared to the CAI's, but that's cause there is no fresh air passing around the car, particularly the underside...

only reason i ask..... is cuz with my cai the filter is down by the headlight........ but with a shortram........ i measured it out....... and the filter would be right behind my scoop......

cuz on the highway...... i dont think theres going to be alot of hot air being sucked in when the filter is right behind a hood scoop

...but the short ram is not 100% closed in around the hood scoop so it will still suck in some hot air from engine. IMO stick with the cold air, if you want sound get a short ram, I loved the sound but didn't get any gains.

what if you get a heat shield for a short ram ?
does that do much
will the short ram actually make you lose power?
