Short Shifter + Stiff Shifts

Anyone notice after they installed a short shifter that shifts were a little harder to get into gear? or is it just me?

After fixing my MC problem i threw in my TWM as well and now my shifts seem to be better but not super smooth, sometimes I can't get it into 5th as well or I gotta push a little more to get into 1st.

if i shift hard i find sometimes it will grind or stick at high revs, but i hvae been told its becuase the short shifter is to fast for the syncros, so i just take it easy when i shift, i dun really have a problem gettin it into gear, maybe u tightened it to much against the bearings, i know when i first installed mine it was to tight i could barly shift

could be that bottom bolt is to tightened... or also just that the movement is to fast for the syncro's to do there job...

I know for sure the bottom bolt is not tight at all

but the 2 smaller bolts that hold the plate that holds the shifter into the housing are pretty tight`

hmmm i dont think they would really effect how hard it feels... if you had a stock shift rod before then the motion on a short shift rod is definately harder cause you have less movement at the **** but the same below so you need more force to make the same movement

yeah, of course... you change the leverage cuz the pivot bearing is higher up on the rod now. that gives your grandma arms less leverage

this is why I like my adjustable short shifter...cuz I can adjust what I lost in leverage on the bottom and add it to the top...sure my shifter isnt a short lil nub like some people's but its at a nice comfortable driving height and the distance from shifter to steering wheel is at an acceptable distance

i noticed the same thing when i put in my solo shifter on my D16Y8.

Put in my ITR tranny with a short shifter. now i can shift by bending the wrist. The throws are incredibly short. Felt really weird at first, but after time u get used to it, and now i wouldnt have it any other way.

when i put in my short shifter and es bushing my dad told me that id never be able to drive with the shifter like that, due to the effort it requires. But, after a couple of weeks i no longer noticed the increased effort.

My shifters (Solo and Skunk2) were both very stiff when I first installed them. I got used to it after a few days and now when I drive my fiance's car, I always complain about loose her shifter feels compared to mine. Maybe your tranny fluid needs to be changed. Last time I did mine, I noticed the difference in shift feel afterwords.
