The D16Z6 is SOHC VTEC ('92-'95 Si and '92 Ex-V) and will drop right into your car without problems. you don't even have to get a new tranny, although the Si tranny would be better.

are you doing it for the power gains, or are you doing a swap cuz your engine is dead...? If your doing it just to get more power IMO its not worth the time and money, cuz you could just do a mini me swap!! throw on a vtec head and your set, you will end up with basically the same engin as if you did a compleate swap...but if your current block is poohced, then obviously the whole swap is manditory... Ive seen some pretty sick SOHC's before, they do have potential to be quick, they dont get the attention they deserve poor things...lol

SOHC can be an ok platform...turbo it woudl be best but all motor you coudl get a crower cam p&p the head and get a vafc to tune and it woudl be pretty damn quick for a SOHC honda

the big thing is that per dollar you would see better results in a twin cam of similar displacement... single cam motors have to much valve float at hgih rpms... which can cause problems....

say compare a b16 and a d16z6... if your starting off with the d series you already gotta make up 30 or 40 hp pending which b16 you would get... so if you spent the money you would normally have spent on the 30 or 40 hp... you'd have a 200hp b16... thats pretty sick

plus with a d series the internals of the motor are not nearly as strong as the b series are

b18, if you want to make good power at reasonable cost
stick with your stock block, and purchase a vtec head, send it to a machine shop to mill it, mild p&p and maybe even a Crowler camshaft, and adj gears.. I guarantee you will beat alot of b16's...depending on what they have done to there cars...

and you'll still have no torque..

b18b if you want a dual cam
or
d15b / d16z6 / d16y8 if you want sohc vtec + turbo
