I was under the impression that all 5th gen didnt have one. I have a 95 si and I have never had it kick in. I know for a fact my si has hit 210-215kms with no help from a piggy back computer or anything.

EDIT> To clarify I was talking about USDM 5th gens

ALL cars have speed goveners.
Its just a matter of what its at.
Also has to do with a rev limit though.

you have to also realize that at those speeds (160+) you get into air resistance and terminal vociety you have to shift at the right points to get to the limit. Kieran did it just stop and sort of hold it there? if so that ain't the speed govenor which when it kicks in causes the speed to drop due to no gas or spark going to the engine (it just acts as a big air pump till you drop below a set limit..) the speed cut off is 190... once cut off it won't resume providing power till you've dropped below a certain limit

For all the times I've seen people get gangraped with selfrighteousness for mentioning street racing in any shape or form, this thread on the Darwin Olympics of Civic Racing sure seems to be going on for a while.

I'll give you guys a little advice. Running through 3 gears off a light is far, far safer than touching anywhere near 200 km/h in a lightweight fwd street car. There's just less chance of pedestrians on the highway.

^ organized street racing is a lot safer than going light to light, and going 200 km/h

No they're all unsafe and stupid. It's just that if you lose control at 200 km/h you are not walking away from it.
