SRR Tie Bar install EK

Hey I got a new SRR tie bar for my 98 SI.

Went to put it on

Removed the LCA bolts (to the Sub)
Put the brackets on and now the bolts are not long enough.

Anyone else encountered this?

The SRR Bar has those huge plates with the welded on washer, so it makes the bolt sit out further

Manufacture should include longer subframe bolts and obviously, OEM bolts are too short for it as you have realized.

My frame plate came with longer bolts.

Go to Brafasco and buy longer bolts, with OEM or higher strength. 10.8 I believe.

I do not know the size.

There is a OEM 96-00 Manual somwhere on this site ready for download. Do it, then look for that bolt spec. Then just add the extra length and have Brafasco cut it for you.

I believe it is a 14mm bolt to begin with.

the honda parts catalogue says 10x80
THE ITR says 10x89 (I assume more length for the tie bar)

Do you think I could attempt using a type-r bolt

Maybe try to contact SRR and ask them. If you get new bolts, just make sure they are the correct thread pitch, diameter and stronger would help too.

I would try to have SRR send me some new bolts. Or at least get their spec on them.

Measure how thick your bracket is then add that number onto the 80 and if ITR bolt fits, then it fits.

I emailed SRR
here is the response

Dear Sir,

Normally the factory bolts are long enough when installing the lower strut bar. Did the bolts be changed before?
pls contact the dealer which you bought from to see if they can offer the longer bolts or contact
Drivehard Auto Accessories TEL:6047206818 and see if they can help.
Thank you.

SRR

I am plannign to call them today but its a tad early for the west coast now

You can download it here:

(Right click and Save As)

If you can, get those bolts in stainless. Those supension bolts always seize up from rust.
If not, use some anti-seize compound on them.

Do you know how much shorter the bolts are? If you do, take matter into your own hands and just get a custom one.

is ur tie bar on an EK?

I spoke to Drive hard, he was unsure but told me not to use the long bolt rather only to use the 2 small ones. He was unsure and wanted to check with the mechanic but was almost positive it sits ontop of the LCA bolt.? Seems odd. I think I am going to find a longer bolt and diy
