steering straight is NOT the only symptom of alignment...

I highly suggest, if you really think this is a serious problem... that you consult an alignment shop with a good reputation. Considering you ate a curb, and now your questions regarding steering effort, it may be the case that your caster has been affected. If you hit the curb straight on, the wheels could have been pushed back enough to give you negative caster which makes the car less stable, which would in turn reduce steering effort. Even with power steering my car is a bitch to steer, but that's cuz I run really sticky big rubbers.

gatherer, I know you're reading this... any input on the alignment aspect of this problem?

i will bring it to midas to do alignment tomorrow and I will ask them about the steering problem. Without power steering, I would expect it very hard to steer as I have 195/60/15 snow tires.

your tires are too tall too, the size is 185/65/14, 185/6015 and 195/55/15.

I'm not sure Midas is an acceptable place for an alignment. Try someplace more sophisticated, like Wheel and Tire Zone.

not really... it's a wear item. Most places don't cover brake pads and tires neither... I mean, they don't wanna be fixing alignemens from ppl riding curbs.
