hmmm 17" get the LIGHT weighing rims.. off the top of my head I can only suggest ROTA, SPOON if you can afford them..

Falken Azenis are amazing, but a bit pricey

could be used for either.. but for track I would go with a smaller rim.. 16" .. better traction, lighter

I have Falken Azenis on 10.5lbs rims... haven't driven on them yet... been staring at them for over 2 months now I anticipate MONSTER grip out of my car now. So much so, that I'll get additional bracing for the car.

 

I would go 16" .. 17" or higher is more for show than performance.. considering that you're looking for "sticky" tires I think you're more into performance..

it'll be cheaper too.. but ya.. 16" as light as possible (Spoon is awsome).. and the Azenis'.... and you'll be happy for sure

alignment my man... very poor alignment So bad that I get tire dust settling on the rear bumper after a highway trip. It's toed in like 3-4 mms. I'm waiting to do another susp install, then cornerweighing, alignment, and finally my precious new rims + tires.

 

you have a camber kit? what car do you have??.. heheh you must be itching to put them on man...

 

1998 Civic LX no vtec sohc 4 doors too Camber kit... pffft... I don't need no camber kit. Actually, my camber is exceptional...I'm very happy with it. It's the toe that's really bad cuz I wasn't paying attention when I dropped my rear susp in favour of 4 wheel disk brakes. So I just tossed it all back together all cockeyed like in idiot but I gotta cornerweigh it anyways and redo the rear sway bar.

Guys... I really like the look of Motegi MR7... is this an okay setup with sticky tires, probably Falken Azenis... and what kind of tire sizes to get sticky tires?

those rims are HEAVY... from the sound of it, seems like you're not sure if you want performance or show.. cuz on one hand you want "sticky" tires=performance, on the other hand you want 17" MR7's?? = show

tire size doesn't matter.. the tread will be the same.. lower aspect ratio will give u better performance, but the ride will be harsher, also if you hit a big enough pot hole..... bye bye rim.. ppl that get 17" USUALLY get 205/40/17, or 215/40/17

personally on my car, I have 16" Rota's Circuit 8.. 205/50/16 .. good for handling

Get some R-compound tires They'll definitely stick.

 

The Azenis get an 'A' government rating for wet traction. ROY, I didn't check the thread you posted, but from your "slicks" comment I assume it's negative. But the compound that is used and the deep tread, combined with teh gov't rating of A (AA is the best), I expect good traction. HOWEVER!!! I will add that regardless of what it's like in the rain... who cares??? Do you really feel the need to drive like an asswipe when it's pouring. Even if you don't crash, someone else'll crash into you. Besides, my Civic is a fair weather maiden, so... I only need tires that provide dry grip and have decent wear. R's are no good unless warmed up, and if they are not heat cycled, say goodbye to them in 2 months.
